The Bureau of Indian Affairs will hold a public meeting this Wednesday to discuss the casino proposed by the Big Sandy Rancheria of Western Mono Indians in California.

The tribe plans to build a $250 million casino on a 48-acre site that is already held in trust for an individual Indian. The 75,000 square-foot facility would include 2,000 slot machines, 40 table games, 15 poker tables, an entertainment hall with 2,000 seats and a 300-room hotel.

"I think that it couldn't come at a more perfect time for Fresno County," spokesperson Elizabeth Kipp told The Fresno Bee of the project.

The draft environmental impact statement is open for comment.
